We understand that buying online can have its drawbacks and although
we try and provide true and thorough descriptions of all our items, we understand
that sometimes there is no substitute for having a sample of the real thing.
Free Samples
By far the best way to get samples at no extra cost to you is to place an order
with us and then email or call us requesting that we add the sample items to your
order. Since you are ordering from us anyway, you will not be charged any extra for
the samples.
Sample Charges
If you are not buying from us, then there is a charge for supplying samples.
If the samples you require are already sold seperately on the site and you just want
to order a single item or several single items but do not meet our minimum order spend
of £20, then call to place the order and we will wave the £20 minimum spend. You
will be charged the price for the items plus the relevant postage costs.
For all other sample requests, there will be a £5.88 (£5 +
VAT) charge. This charge goes some way towards covering the cost of
the service if you do not then choose to buy from us. If you then
buy from us and spend over £30 then we will refund the £5+VAT from your
first order.
Why do you charge for samples?
We receive many requests for samples every day and although we accept that
they are a useful way of helping consumers make a decision to buy or not,
nonetheless, the process of issuing samples is very expensive. Supplying
samples requires the use of a picker, a packer the use of packing materials,
the cost of the item itself, taking samples from a pack makes the pack
now unsellable, postage costs, time spent labelling items and then producing an invoice
and so on. If a customer is spending a lot with us then the cost can be consumed,
but if the customer then only spends £20 - £30 with us then we have made no profit
on the sale. If the person requesting the samples decides that the items are not suitable and
so makes no purchase at all then we will have made a loss that would need to
be passed on to our existing customers in terms of higher prices. It shouldn't
take Alan Sugar to see that this is bad business and is why so many companies
simply will not send out free samples. We have chosen to take a more
pragmatic approach - if the samples turn out to be what you want and you buy
from us then they are free!
